Tom O'Neill, C.A.
Former CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers
LLP from 1998 to 2001 (GTA)
Born in Montréal, Tom O'Neill joined the audit
staff of Price Waterhouse upon graduation from
Queen's University in 1967. He received his CA
designation in 1970, was appointed supervisor
in 1972, and manager in 1974. He was admitted
to the partnership in 1978, and for the next several
years was client service partner for large multi-national
companies, specializing in those publicly listed
in Canada and the U.S.
Mr. O'Neill was named Managing Partner for the
Canadian Management Consulting practice in 1988,
then Managing Partner for Price Waterhouse in
1990. He oversaw the merger of Price Waterhouse
and Coopers & Lybrand in 1998 and assumed the
position of CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
in Canada. He was named COO of the PwC global
organization in 2000, and CEO of PwC Consulting
in 2002.
Mr. O'Neill lectured on Political Economics at
the University of Toronto and has been actively
involved in a number of associations, including
various committees at both the Canadian and Ontario
Institutes of Chartered Accountants.
He served as a member of the Business Council
on National Issues, the Advisory Council of the
Queen's University School of Business, Vice Chair
of the Board of Governors of Queen's University,
and Past President and Director of the Stratford
Shakespearean Festival. He has sat on the board
of directors for Adecco,SA, BCE Inc., Loblaw Companies
Ltd., Dofasco Inc., Ontario Teachers' Pension
Plan Board, Nexen Inc., and St. Michael's Hospital.
